This is the aluminum riser I'd start with on a small desk you do not pack up every night. It lifts a 10 to 15.6 inch laptop about 6 inches and is rated for 8.8 pounds. The open deck leaves a gap underneath, which is where an external keyboard actually belongs.
It comes apart in three pieces if you move rooms. Once it is together, it is a stay-put riser. I would not treat it as a bag stand.
A 16-inch laptop is outside that 10 to 15.6 inch range. That size belongs on Nulaxy, JOYEKY, or tounee.
