Desk Mats Updated Sep 9, 2026
A sit-stand top moves, and you shove the keyboard harder when you stand. A suede or rubber back stays put. Dual-sided PU walks on glass. If I were covering the desktop, I'd start with the suede-back Aothia. Topo is the floor product, with a heel catch so you can kick it aside when you sit.

Ergodriven Topo standing desk mat
The floor in front of a sit-stand desk
The pad on the top keeps keyboard and mouse on one surface while the frame rises. Topo goes on the floor. The surface is uneven on purpose so you shift your feet. A kitchen mat you cannot kick aside gets annoying fast. I would not put a thick floor mat on the desktop. It blocks a monitor-arm clamp.
Many sit-stand tops have a monitor-arm clamp at the back. A 4 mm pad can keep that clamp from biting the wood. Stop the mat short of the clamp or use a 3 mm cloth like the G840. If the desk has a cable grommet, leaving the hole uncovered is easier than fishing cords around the pad. On a 30-inch-deep top, a 16-inch runner leaves a lot of moving wood in front of you.
If you drink at the desk, I'd take PU. It wipes. Cloth stains. Dual-sided PU slides when you plant your hands at standing height. Harsh cleaners peel PU. A mat that hangs over the front catches your knees when you sit.

The G840 is the thin cloth. 900 by 400 millimeters, 3 millimeters thick. Keyboard and mouse share one surface without a fat foam edge under a monitor-arm clamp.
A lot of sit-stand users clamp an arm at the back. A 4 mm 3XL can keep that clamp from grabbing the wood. I'd start here when you want the pad under the clamp zone, or stop a thicker pad short of the back edge.
It rolls if you clear the top in a shared room. The rubber base helps on wood. Glass is still a slick top.
48 by 17 inches of PU with a suede back. That back is the sit-stand feature. Dual-sided leather pads have no suede back, so a standing shove is a worse match.
Wipe coffee. If you drink at the desk, PU keeps the spill on the surface. Cloth soaks.
This is the one I'd buy for a sit-stand office top you want to wipe. 17 inches still leaves wood toward the monitor. If the top is 30 inches deep and you want that strip gone, the 47 by 24 Aothia is the deeper sheet.
Standing, you shove the keyboard more than you think. The G840 is the thin pad at this size. QcK Heavy is the thick SteelSeries cloth in XXL, about 35 by 16 inches and 4 millimeters.
Same footprint as the G840, more thickness. Check the monitor-arm clamp. If the clamp needs bare wood, stop the pad short of the back edge.
Cloth still stains. If you eat standing up, I'd take the Aothia.
A lot of sit-stand frames are 30 inches deep. A 16-inch pad looks like a runner. The Gigantus 3XL is about 47 by 22 inches of cloth with 4 millimeters of foam.
That covers more of the top. Same clamp warning as the QcK Heavy. Leave a strip of wood at the back if the arm needs it.
I'd point here if you want the deep sit-stand top covered in cloth. Confirm 3XL. Razer also sells XXL, which is shorter. You want the desk-cover size, not the mouse-only size.
Topo is not a mouse pad. It goes on the floor. The surface is uneven on purpose so you shift your feet.
The heel notch is the sit-stand detail. You hook it and pull the mat out when you sit, then push it back when you stand. A flat kitchen mat does not do that.
I would take this for the floor, not the desktop. Buy it if you stand enough hours that your feet complain. It will not cover cables or protect the desktop.
Only if you have both jobs. The desktop mat is for keyboard, mouse, and spills. The floor mat is for your feet. I'd add Topo if you stand enough hours that your feet complain.
The top moves a little, or you shove the keyboard harder when you stand. Use a suede or rubber back. Dual-sided PU on glass walks. A heavier cloth pad also helps.
It can. Clamps need the desktop thickness the brand rated. A 4 mm pad in the clamp zone is enough to slip. Use a thin mat or stop the mat in front of the clamp.
Desktop mat is for keyboard, mouse, and spills. Topo is a floor mat with a heel notch so you can slide it when you sit.
A lot of sit-stand frames are 30 inches deep. The pad covers keyboard and mouse and leaves a moving strip of wood toward the monitor. Use a 24-inch-deep cloth or PU if you want that strip gone.
